Agricultural Manager Responsibilities and Competencies

Responsibilities:

Management of 4,942 acres of crops

Planning and organizing agricultural activities: Establishing schedules for planting, harvesting, irrigation, fertilization, and other agricultural processes.

Resource management: Supervising the efficient use of inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, water, and machinery, ensuring their proper application.

Staff supervision: Managing and coordinating field workers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.

Quality control: Ensuring that agricultural products meet the required quality standards for commercialization.

Control phytosanitary: fungicide herbicide and pesticide plants, bulbs and tubers, or seeds for propagation, fruits and vegetables, cut flowers and branches, grain, and growing medium.

Budgeting and cost control: Monitoring production costs and managing budgets to maximize profitability.

Technology implementation: Utilizing advanced agricultural technologies to improve efficiency, such as automated irrigation systems or agricultural management software.

Regulatory compliance: Ensuring that the operation complies with local and national regulations regarding sustainable agricultural practices, safety, and environmental standards.

Supplier and customer relations: Negotiating with suppliers of agricultural inputs and managing the sale of products to the market.

Competencies:

Technical agricultural knowledge: A deep understanding of crops, irrigation techniques, pest and disease management, among others.

Management and leadership skills: Ability to lead teams and make strategic decisions to maximize production and profitability.
