- As a Site Technician at the Elms Mansion in Newport, I am responsible for performing various daily custodial tasks and monitoring the property for any issues that may arise during business hours. In the morning, I prepare the museum for opening by cleaning the bathrooms, turning on lights and setting rooms up for viewing, vacuuming all carpets, and clearing out the entryways from any leaves, snow or other debris. Throughout the day, I sweep and mop the tour path and large corridors, dust the fixtures and furniture, and perform security checks by walking the perimeter of the property. During closing shifts I prepare for all guests to exit the museum, sweep the corridors to collect any debris from visitors during the day, set the security panels, and close down the mansion in a timely manner. Additionally, I am prepared for any spontaneous situation that may arise, including spills and breakage of any museum property.
