Accomplishments

Throughout middle school, I was involved with the STEM club where i learned skills in team work, project design, trouble shooting, and beginning coding.

I applied for and was accepted into the Stem program for my freshman year which required a very extensive schedule in STEM subjects.

I graduated from Central High School at the age of 16 this past May.

Additional Information

I was diagnosed with Autism when I was 2 and non verbal until I was about 5 years old. I now speak normally and have become so high functioning that most people do not know I am on the Spectrum. Autism has given me many unique talents, but also creates some difficulties. I am a very literal thinker and may not always respond to social cues correctly, possible making me seem "odd" at times. If you tell me I am doing a good job, I may "Yes" rather than "Thank you". Another example would be my response the first time someone told me "Life isn't always black and white and I replied "No, because there are other colors". I have some sensory which make crowded loud spaces, (basketball games, indoor festivals and concerts) are very difficult for me, which makes the small working environment of The Human Bean a perfect fit.

Although, I can be very nervous when meeting someone for the first time, I quickly gain confidence as I become familiar with people and places. I will have no difficulties taking orders and interacting with customers with confidence. I am a fast "hands on" learner, but have some difficulties understanding "book training". While I can read very well, the words are just words most of the time, which makes it easy to memorize things such as menus and ingredient lists. I am very eager to please and strive to do my best, so when I do something wrong, I may cry more quickly than someone without Autism. However, I do not want special treatment, as I need to handle criticism, and have in fact, made it one of my self improvement goals.

In summary, I am an intelligent, hard working, honest, self-motivated team player, with a few social "quirks". I love being around people and am excited by the prospect of joining The Human Bean family.
