One of my most meaningful accomplishments at Baptist Hospital was the diverse skill set I developed while working in the clinical staffing float pool. This role allowed me to rotate through various critical positions, including house supervisor, transfer center staff, and clinical support on multiple units such as med-surg, ICU, and ED overflow. My primary goal was to support the organization in any capacity needed—an especially demanding task during the COVID-19 pandemic. My willingness to embrace new challenges and environments gave me a deep understanding of the hospital’s operations and strengthened my adaptability under pressure.
This flexibility and commitment ultimately led to my selection for a pivotal role in the 2023 facility transition from Moreno Street to Brent Lane. I was honored to serve as part of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), where I coordinated patient transfers between facilities. This critical responsibility required the development of an efficient communication process for nursing staff, along with real-time census tracking to adapt to unexpected changes in transport logistics.
Following the success of the transition, I pursued a leadership opportunity as Stroke Coordinator. In this role, I refined my leadership, interpersonal, technical, and organizational skills. Under my direction, the stroke program successfully addressed and corrected the majority of non-conformities identified during the 2023 surveys at both Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital. Most notably, we significantly reduced our hyperacute stroke care timing metrics, resulting in a marked improvement in overall compliance performance.
