  • Fabrication/Metal Manipulation- Grinded various aircraft parts to the engineer’s specifications to the millionths of an inch using lathes and honing machines.
  • Associated Duties- Performed all tasks associated with planning, laying out, fabrication, modification, repair, assembly, and installation of metal parts, items, and assemblies. Passed the OWATC course in Parker Fluid Skills Training. Used hydraulic fixtures to test different valves to ensure they are suitable for installation on aircraft.
  • Hydraulic testing of top assembly units, ensuring proper function and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Clean units and prepare for shipping by potting, safety cable/lock wire installation, marking with torque stripe, and installing identifying nameplate.
  • Material Prep- Possess the technical knowledge and skills for making layouts, patterns, and templates using recognized trade methods and practices.
  • Material Handling- Inspected each part to ensure the part was free of imperfections and to ensure each set of parts had matching serial numbers.
  • Chemical Handling- Ability to use materials, coating and chemicals used in performing structural/corrosion control work. Used red oil (MIL-H-6083) and skydrol to test valves.
  • Painting- Used iridite to fix imperfections on CAD plated parts.
  • Equipment Operation- Perform trims as small as one millionth of an inch using lathes. Lap parts to ensure they are straight within three millionths of an inch. Remove burrs from trimmed parts using a roll lap machine.
  • Visual Inspection- Visually inspected parts to ensure quality was met. Acted as in-house quality control to meet company standards.
  • Part Mark- Serialized valves and components with the proper serial numbers at a pre-determined size using chemical etching or laser engraving depending on the component.
  • Tooling- Operated and maintained complex lathes, honing machines, and chemical cleaning tanks.

Developed patterns, cut, formed, joined, assembled, and installed items and systems which have combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles, and planes.

Performed prep/surface on aerospace parts to the specified surface finish. Prepped parts for paint using masking techniques. Prepped parts for welding operations.

Hammered, chipped, and grinded workpiece to cut, bend, and straightened metal.
