My name is Chelsea Lukens and I thoroughly enjoy patient care. I am in my sixth year working for SIH. I started my career at SIH working on North as a PCT. As a PCT I loved interacting with patients and helping aide the nurses in different procedures. While I was a PCT, I was going to nursing school at Rend Lake College. Once I completed my first year of nursing school, I started on my unit as an LPN. I trained under a charge nurse my entirety of my training and got to learn his job as well as mine. After finishing my second year of nursing school, I became an RN on the same unit. Over the two years of being a nurse on that floor, I realized that I love patient care and would love to further myself in my career. I was hired in 2023 to be the RN Clinic Lead of the SIH Brain & Spine Institute. During this job I have had multiple opportunities to grow and learn in leadership. While being a lead nurse for this clinc, I continued my education on and received my BSN in Leadership and Management in 2023. Right after I completed my BSN, I completed my MSN in Leadership and Management in less than a year. During my time at SIH Brain & Spine Institute, our service line has grown and I was given the opportunity to be the Interim Practice Manager of our Pain Management and Physiatry department which is the job I am currently doing. I am a dedicated nurse with more than 6 years of experience caring for patients. I am highly organized and proactive in managing patient needs. I love to learn new techniques and am excited to progress in my field.
