Chloe Kim

As a Molecular and Cell Biology major at UC San Diego with a 4.0 GPA, I bring both academic excellence and a long-standing personal passion for biology—particularly in taxonomy and molluscan animals. Growing up between South Korea and Long Island, I independently collected, photographed, dissected, and curated marine mollusks, creating a personal specimen database modeled after museum standards. This early work stemmed from a deep curiosity about the natural world and a desire to contribute to the scientific understanding of underrepresented species in Korea.

Through this experience, I developed strong observational skills, persistence, and a foundational understanding of biological classification. Since beginning my studies at UCSD, I’ve come to appreciate the critical importance of collaboration and lab-based techniques in achieving scientific goals. I have completed coursework in general biology (BILD 1, 3, 4), chemistry (CHEM 6A–6B, currently enrolled in 6C), and bioinformatics (BILD 5, with ongoing R programming training). I am eager to contribute to research efforts as a lab assistant and to continue learning and growing as a future scientist.
