- A lead pipe welder, assigned to perform quality weldments using various material types. I am an expert in the GTAW (Tig) and SMAW (Stick) processes with a remarkably high acceptance rate as shown by radiography. I am certified to inspect titanium welds and to sign off titanium bill packages. As a specialist I have made numerous trips to different naval yards. Including Norfolk, San Diego, Mayport, and Japan to make repairs to titanium piping systems.

- Tig weld pipe butt joints, socket joints, and pipe hangers in the Navy carriers and Navy submarines. The use of mirrors and mini rigs is necessary to reach most of the welds. Pipe joints are usually X-Ray and/or PT to ensure a quality product. Majority of the time I work with a group. Somedays by myself on other days. We work from packets to find and verify the jobs and material types. I have gone on several underway with the Navy out to sea on CVN 78 Ford, Navy’s newest aircraft carrier. Out to sea, I am considered Fleet support to fix systems if they go down. Some of the systems that we support are JP-5, AFFF, and PODS as well as help finish up AWE “Advanced weapons elevators.” The longest trip out to sea to date is thirty-three days.
