Hi, I’m

Christa Ford

Christa Ford

Summary

My name is Mrs. Christa Ford, and I was raised at the knee of a Grand Piano and my piano-teacher/composer father Elbert McAlister and vocalist mother, Joy. We lived in sunny Southern California, U.S.A. Echoing through our home for 25 years were piano lessons featuring Chopin, Rachmaninoff, compositions and exercises written by my father, or nursery ;rhymes and Bible hymns.

Annual family performances of Handel's Messiah, (my father as accompanist, mother as soloist and I as choral member and soloist) gave me my first start as a performing Soprano.

I began piano study with my father at aged 3, and could play perfect nursery rhyme songs on the piano by ear at that young toddler age! I learned to excel at playing piano by ear, and developed my music reading skills in high school.

A member of a choir from aged 5 to aged 45 (total of 22 years), I began private vocal study at aged 16, my first instructor teaching me basics of Vocal Pedagogy with an eye to a possible future where I would teach piano and voice!

Upon starting what would become 6 years straight of full time University Level study as Vocal Performance Major (5 years) and a Music Education Major (1 year) with an undeclared emphasis in classical/opera and also art song, I embarked on a huge musical adventure! I was told after my Junior Jury by the Vocal Staff at Cal State Fullerton University "You could be one of the voices of the century" with total seriousness!

At that moment in 1999, I realized I couldn't truly be housed on a cycle all over the world at various Opera houses required for a professional Opera career, and concurrently have a marriage and family with my soon to be husband Navy man. I consciously chose to dedicate my life to become a wife and Mom, and when our children grew independent enough, I would pursue singing in small events and teaching private voice and piano, which I started doing at Kat's Artist Tree in Goodyear, AZ! I became passionate about my new endeavor and haven't looked back since! My studio is called Agape Performing Arts and I love to teach!
