Family Centered Services

Visit children in placement and conduct assessments of children and services.

Refer families and children to services in the community.

Preserve and strengthen protective capacities of parents to keep their child in their own home with a focus on increasing safety for the child(ren) to prevent unnecessary out -of-home placements.

Family Finding Unit/ASK

Searches, gathers and informs family connections to ensure that a child stays connected to important people in their life.

Recruitment and retention of kinship families for a child who is at risk of entering the child welfare system.

Conducts interviews with parents, children, all other known family members, family friends and community members.

Searches within cases, utilizing, KIDS, IMS, FACS and Clear Search to identify and additional family connections.

Adoption Transition Unit

Consult with Permanency Planning, Foster Care and Child Protective Services Specialist to address permanency issues with children in out of home care.

Conduct an ongoing process that begins with an Adoption Consultation and concludes when an adoption for a child is finalized by the court.

Attend monthly staffings for children with unidentified adoption placements and staff with statewide adoption specialists.

Child Protective Services

Managing a caseload of children and families, receiving and investigating referrals for possible abuse and neglect and completing investigations.

Investigations include interviewing children and families, assessing home conditions and recommending appropriate interventions.

Completing DA reports and staffing with a District Attorney, Judge and attending a court hearing if a child is determined to be unsafe.

Refer families and children to services in the community.

Consult with the District Attorney regarding efforts to protect a child, reunite the family or other permanent plans for a child.

Create court reports, attend court hearings and provide testimony.
