Work History
Statewide Conservation Outreach Specialist
University of Wisconsin-Madison, Extension
08.2023 - Current
Develop outreach materials focused on soil health, soil function, and general soil conservation that build farmer, consultant, and agronomist knowledge on the topic and that lead to enhanced adoption of conservation practices.
Design and facilitate small-plot and field-scale research, both on working farms and University ARS, with research topics including: 1.Quantifying nitrogen credits to corn grain from leguminous cover crops planted after small-grains (25 site years 2025-2027). 2. Evaluating the relationships between chemical and biological soil health indicators and corn yield response to nitrogen on over 30 Wisconsin farms in 2025 (~300+ samples, 30-40 unique N responses).
Lead internal working groups that prioritize development of soil health and function, soil fertility, and nutrient management content and outreach. Specific initiatives include leading the corn and soybean-phosphorus and potassium recommendations update team in addition to providing expertise to reviewing corn-nitrogen response databases for the purpose of updating recommendations.
Collaborate with Faculty to assist with outreach and manuscript development from their laboratory programs.
Coordinate educational workshops, events, and soil pit demonstrations ensuring alignment with community needs and institutional goals.
Conducted needs assessments to identify gaps in resources and inform program development initiatives.
Collaborated with local organizations to foster partnerships that expanded outreach efforts and resource sharing.
Technical Director and Laboratory Manager
Dairyland Laboratories & AgSource Laboratories
07.2017 - 08.2023
Technical development of analytical methodologies for quantifying nutrient concentrations in soil, plant, and manure samples.
Lead technical support efforts to crop consultants, agronomists, and farmers; primarily involving interpretation of laboratory results and subsequent fertility recommendations.
Led cross-functional teams to enhance laboratory processes and improve operational efficiency and quality..
Developed and implemented strategic quality assurance protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Conducted field research trials that investigated use-cases of soil and plant analysis to diagnose nutrient deficiencies and corrective actions.
