Christopher Chambers

Summary

I started in the fire service in 1990 in the California Department of Forestry. In 1992 I was hired full time with Buckskin Fire Department. I served as a Firefighter EMT, Medic, Captain, Rescue Diver and Training Captain for 17 years. I was then appointed to the position of Fire Chief by the Fire Board and served for 8 years. In 2017 i stepped back to Interim Fire Chief and then filled the position of senior Fire Captain, which is the job and title i hold today.

I founded the La Paz County Fire Chiefs Association along with my assistant Chief Jeff Harran. We recognized a need to strengthen interagency communications within the agencies of La Paz County. It has proven to be most effective in emergency preparedness and response for our area. It created a means to effectively pool our ideas and resources thereby bringing cohesiveness to the Fire Districts and Emergency services of La Paz County. I currently serve as the Sec/Treasurer.

I was Appointed Fire Chief of Buckskin Fire District in 2009 and served in that position until 2017. Our district has 2 stations and 14 full time positions and 12 part time. I managed a budget of 2 million dollars. I worked closely with the Board of Directors. I had the responsibility to oversee all aspects of the fire department.
