- As an employee of the department of correction my main responsible was maintaining the safety and security of everyone either employed or incarcerated at my assigned prison. I conducted regular cell checks and performed scheduled counts to ensure everyone was accounted for. As a Sergeant I was responsible for supervising officers that were assigned to Outside Details. These were contracted details with the state, that offenders would work outside prison walls. Still main focus was maintaining safety and security of personnel, but also now the public. Both positions as PSTI I & II were served in the training department. I would create annually training schedules and meet weekly with Wardens to address issues within their prisons. Conduct multiple lessons in a classroom setting, and input training records into POST. I over saw 4 state prisons, 2 county camps, and 1 transitional centers.
