Retail Store Manager

Cell Touch
Saint Petersburg, FL
09.2021 - Current
  • Maximize sales and consistently meet sales expectations on a monthly basis for Device Activations and Accessory dollar sales. For example, selling 180 devices between phones, tablets, and home internet boxes and $12,000 worth of accessories between cases, screen protectors, chargers, headphones, speakers, and other items. My record is 230 activations and $16,000 at a medium traffic store.
  • Consistently Rank well on a complex and ever-changing nationwide matrix for all Metro by T-mobile locations (over 6,200) on a monthly basis. Essentially, to rank well overall -top 2,700- I must satisfy several metrics including growth (new activations across all types of devices), retention (lines being active over time), satisfaction (good reviews), and more. My record is rank 200, and I have many times ranked within the top 1,000. I've never ranked outside of the 2,700 dealer goal.
  • Provide great customer service. I have helped countless customers of all attitudes and demographics with all sorts of phone related issues and otherwise (billing, account, general questions, ect.) Many customers (who have been to countless stores over many years) have said I was the best they ever worked with. I have, quite literally, had thousands of interactions with people of all sorts.
  • Maintained a clean and organized working environment.
  • Keep up with ever changing merchandising to T-mobile standards (price cards, promotional posters, ect). This involves passing quarterly unannounced audits from T-mobile.
  • Cash responsibility. Inventory responsibility (over 100 devices at any time).
  • Show, coach, and train new hires working with me.
  • I have worked at 10 different locations with this dealer and have managed 3 of them.
  • Worked over 62hrs/week for over a year (6 days all day and almost always alone) and with 0 benefits at all. The overwork was non optional for a manager position. Later on, only after putting two weeks, did they (barely) give me a semi-normal 51hr/week (5 days all day and half the time alone) schedule. Only after developing tendonitis and not being able to stand my job no longer only metaphorically, did i demand a regular 40hr/week. They allowed it at my voluntary demotion. So now I work 8hrs 3 days with someone, 1 day all day and alone (still), and 7 hrs and alone on the last day.
  • The above is why I must find new work that will actually respect my time and lifestyle needs and pay me well for my work and skills without hassel. If you can't give a man appropriate respect and competitive pay and benefits, don't hire him. I'll not be taken advantage of again in my work life.

Retail Store Manager

Talkmore Wireless
Clearwater, FL
09.2021 - 09.2022
  • Talkmore Wireless is another Metro by T-Mobile dealer so the job description is the same as Cell Touch, except I worked normal hours (40-50) and was also responsible for making schedules and hiring employees if need be.
  • I worked at 5 different locations for this dealer and managed 3 stores.
  • Side note: Cell Touch is definitely the more elite company of the two by leaps and bounds. So you could say I know what an effective and well-run operation looks like and what doesn't. The salesmanship and creativity and specific industry knowledge is far superior at Cell Touch as well.
  • Another note: While both dealers are rather large (200+ locations) Cell Touch is the larger of the two with about 300.
  • I mention these notes so you understand I did not work for small sized, limited operation and only localized dealers, but rather larger and more developed ones.

Freight Team Associate

Home Depot
Englewood, FL
10.2021 - 11.2021
  • Overnight position
  • Worked within a team to unload the truck
  • Then had to stock the shelves in various parts of the store quickly.
  • It was surprisingly tough and definitely not for me. I had picked it up only as a side job to save extra money for a pc.
  • Management did however recognize me for a potential leadership one day should I stay.

Door Dash Dasher (Driver)

Door Dash
Port Charlotte, Florida
10.2020 - 09.2021
  • Quickly fulfill customer orders (getting the food and then delivering it to them within allotted time) while keeping the food in good condition.
  • stressful more than anything, especially at night when you can't see the address signs and numbers and you don't even know where you are.
  • I took on this job only to cover my own personal (and minor) expenses after I quit Wal Mart. I wanted something that I thought would fit better in my life and the flexible schedule and free-feel of the work was appealing. However it wasn't worth it.
  • I accomplished over 600 deliveries all in my home town.

Small Business Co-Owner

Eleven 11 Clothing LLC
Port Charlotte, Florida
08.2020 - 08.2021
  • My long time, highschool best friend had an idea to start a shirt printing business and I thought it was a good idea.
  • He would draw designs and print the shirts while I would be the one to go sell them to other small businesses in town.
  • I would go to the business, meet the owner/manager, offer them our services, and then close a deal to print a batch of shirts which they would either sell or use for employees. Our price was quite competitive and we offered good quality product.
  • We had a total of 5 clients between bars and restaurants. We also sold merch at a flee market stand. Crystals and bracelets.
  • I had intentions to get Charlotte County Public Schools but my partner wanted to split and so we did before reaching real success. He simply didn't want to work I suppose, as he was the one to print the shirts. He never sold anything, really. It being his idea and all, I gave him my half without complaint. I don't know what he's since done but I know what it could've been.

Online Pickup

Walmart
Punta Gorda, Florida
03.2019 - 10.2020
  • My first job.
  • I was an online pickup associate, and later department manager (during Covid)
  • The objective was to accurately and quickly shop customer's orders throughout the store. This was sometimes difficult as I didn't even do shopping at that time in my life.
  • I many times had to handle expensive and heavy merchandise alone.
  • Once the items were shopped, they would be staged in the cramped backroom. It was very organized. Then when the customer arrives, you put their order together and bring it out to them. You verify the customer and then load it into their car for them.
  • The work could be demanding at times. especially when prepping orders for customers.
  • Especially during Covid. Those initial months were nothing but exhausting, yet ripe with opportunity. It was the first time I worked overtime. Even at a young age (20) I was eager to take full advantage and would often work everyday all day racking up over 60rhs a week during those lucrative months.
  • I earned respect (from all but the most important employee) for my work and dedication. Due to the extreme demand set upon us our manager was overwhelmed and needed help, I became a department manager in all but title (and thus pay).
  • I really did want to continue working at walmart and move up to salaried manager. However, after the initial covid months, when everything slowed down and the department was finally authorized a second DM for pickup, the Store Manager didn't give me (and more importantly thus pay me) what I deserved and was already doing. I had to leave, the slight was unacceptable.
  • I would go on to regret this personal decision as ironically, within a month, the new managers would all demote themselves due to the workload (and I would've been the only logical choice... again). I learned to be patient. The Store Manager (one would hope, but not likely) learned appreciation.

Restaurant Waiter

Noy's Bistro And Lounge
Englewood, FL
09.2019 - 11.2019
  • Waiting and bussing tables when needed.
  • Rolling silver.
  • Taking customer's orders and bringing them their food when ready.
  • I got the job to get some side money. It wasn't worth it, as this was my 3rd simultaneous job at that time. I thought it would do me good, it didn't.

Life And Health Benefit Provider

Liberty National
South West, FL
08.2019 - 10.2019
  • Life and health insurance sales.
  • I would drive an hour to the office on Monday, check a database of all the businesses in FL, then make a route of many locations i wanted to visit that week. Once I made the route, I would cold call them to verify the business and decision maker. Once checked over, I would go out to the location, meet the Decision Maker, and sell them policies to their employees. It was very convoluted and difficult. Also expensive as this meant a lot of driving to other cities regularly. No one in our office actually sold anything, which was crazy.
  • I did meet with many business owners and I did do the job. I just wasn't successful -none of us were.
  • While an objective failure, this job did set my foundational confidence in sales and communicating with others that would allow me to find real world (although limited) success later with my own business.
  • Obviously, this job required me to get a license to sell life and health insurance in the state of FL.
