I have served as a Texas Police Officer for almost 15 years in various roles including patrol, CIRT, SWAT, Violent Crimes and patrol sergeant. Prior to becoming a police officer, I also have experience in corrections, as I was a Detention Officer with the Denton County Sheriffs Office for approximately 2 years prior to attending the Texoma Regional Police Academy. While I have always enjoyed and seen the reward in proactive policing techniques, I feel that the most impact that I have had in my career has been juvenile intervention. My most recent assignment with the Violent Crimes Task Force, which mainly focused local juvenile criminal street gangs. I have established numerous contacts to aid in intervention with at risk youth, including current School Resource Officers and Juvenile Probation. As the climate in policing has changed, I believe I could make more of an impact with students in the school setting than building criminal cases against them.
