• Perform canine and feline venipuncture, place IV catheters, recover post-op patients, assistant doctors with medical exams, prepare and analyze PCV/TP, urology analysis, stool culture analysis, collect patient information for S.O.A.P notes, schedule and discharge patients, and make surgery packs.

• Perform in-house laboratory testing, make surgery packs and gowns, fill medications, give vaccinations, assist doctor with medical exams, animal handling and restraint, restocking surgery and treatment rooms, schedule appointments, cleaning, sanitizing and laundry.

• Perform routine animal husbandry duties for finches and mice (gnotobiotic, immune-compromised and breeding), implement safety and infection control guidelines, perform specialized technical procedures (i.e., set up breeding pairs, check for plugs; wean, sex, and tail biopsy rodents), communicate with research personnel and OLAR staff, observe animals in assignment work, report any sick or injured animals to veterinary staff, preform veterinary treatment approved by lab animal veterinarian, preform euthanasia by AVMA and IACUC approved guidelines. Additional pre and post operative experience obtained with a rhesus macaque castration procedure.

Cleaning kennels, exercising patients, food preparation, bathing and drying patients, attending to animal's hygienic needs, supervising post-op patients, updating patient kennel charts and customer service.
