Summary

While I am adept with office management skills, I would like to highlight for you the calling God has placed on my life to serve in a missionary or missionary support role.

Here is a brief synopsis of my testimony and what has led me to this point to seek a career with the IMB. I met Corrie Ten Boom at my church when I was ten years old. She had a profound impact on my life and the way I viewed the world. When I was 13 years old, my youth pastor began taking us on domestic mission trips to Portsmouth, Ohio. We were served there 4 or 5 consecutive years. My heart for the lost grew exponentially during those times. I believed God was calling me to serve as a missionary nurse in a third-world country and prepared my parents for my departure upon graduation from college. During my second year in nursing school, I learned the statistics of healthcare in third-world countries and told God I could not watch children die daily ~ I couldn't do what He was asking me to do. I asked Him to give me a different opportunity. I changed my major to accounting, but truly didn't enjoy it; mostly because I was living outside of God's will for my life. I quit college and never went back.

I met and married the man God created for me a few years later. We have two adult children. Our daughter serves as a missionary in Papua New Guinea as a teacher at the Ramu Valley Academy in Madang. Our son lives locally and is still trying to find the right career for him, but he is a Christian and for that, we are thankful.

In 2010, I was invited by our Director of Missions, Jim Snyder, to go with a small team to Mali, West Africa. Although I thought I had ruined God's plan for my life and it wouldn't be possible for me to go on this trip, God opened every door and made it impossible for me to not go! I went and my heart for missions was renewed. I came home in tears, believing that I don't belong here in the TN, I belong in Africa.

Our friends move to Goroka, Papua New Guinea in 2011. I took our son, 14 years old at the time, on a mission trip there in 2012. Once again, my heart was stirred to serve the Lord in missions. Unfortunately, my husband does not believe God has called him to serve as a full-time missionary. I pushed aside my calling again and continued living life in the USA.

In 2013, I took our daughter on a mission trip back to Mali. The Lord placed that calling on my life yet again. I went home in tears believing Mali was where I should be serving. Knowing that God has NOT called me to leave my husband, I committed to the Lord that I would devote my vacation time each year to serve Him wherever He called me. Over the next few years, I went to Mali a total of 5 times, taking both of our children. I led a team as the assistant coordinator for the first time in 2019. The next year, I led a team myself in 2020. We were pushed out of Mali early due to Covid, but we served faithfully and fearlessly for as long as possible.

In 2022, I led a team to Papua New Guinea to serve at the Ramu Valley Academy where my daughter teaches.

In 2023, I led another team back to the Ramu Valley Academy and then transferred that team to Goroka in Papua New Guinea for an extended trip serving two of the missionaries from our home church. We had multiple issues with our VISAs. I booked the flights, managed the finances, dealt with both governments regarding the VISA issues, and coordinated with the missionaries on the ground for in-country transportation and lodging.

I will be attending and assisting in the lead of a team to Madrid, Spain this May and another team to Bangkok, Thailand, Lord willing, in January 2025.

My heart is to serve the Lord. I am a very humble person and do not enjoy highlighting my skills, but I am very logistically focused and detail-oriented. This past Sunday, March 4, 2024, while I was listening to one of our missionaries share, the Lord truly broke me. I couldn't talk or stand because of the sobs. I told the Lord right then and there: "I will go wherever you want me to go, serve in whatever capacity you want me to serve in, but YOU have to call my husband. I can't ask him to go for me."

I went home and immediately got on the IMB website and saw that remote jobs are available for some positions. I have to carry the insurance and benefits for us, because my husband is disabled. So, a remote position with some travel would be ideal for me.

I believe God has used these past years of serving on and leading mission trips to serve as a Short-Term Mission Trip Coordinator. My heart still wants to go and serve each year - that is a commitment I made to the Lord and I will honor that until He calls me home.

I would truly WELCOME the opportunity to talk with you via phone, or one-on-one (my personal favorite).

Until every ear has heard...Matthew 24:14
