Summary

My name is Clarence Sumpter I am applying for the BSEP position you advertised. Below describes why I am the perfect candidate for the position.

My teaching journey began at S C State where I started as an Education major with a minor in I. The course of study included all of the general ed classes as well as teaching in the elementary and secondary schools. I did my practice teaching at Felton Laboratory Elementary School. Prior to graduation life happened and I had to stop and take care of family. When I joined the police department I worked my way up and became a Field Training Officer, a D.A.R.E. instructor and a G.R.E.A.T. instructor. Taught D.A.R.E. in elementary schools for one year then was assigned to Eau Claire High School as the Resource officer. For the nine years I was at Eau Claire I taught music, Street Law and basic policing. Started a mentor program where I taught music and some general ed courses. I also taught students at the city parks in Columbia, S.C. during the summer. Currently I am enrolled in a program associated with the University of S.C. called MTAC (Music Teaching Artist Certification). The program teaches principles and fundamentals of a great teacher. I am scheduled to complete the program in May of this year. With my life experiences I feel I would be an asset to your program.
