Family business

I was raised in retail family business.  I am unique in my family in that I did not start my own retail business.  We have sold furniture, jewelry, western apparel and imports from India and Indonesia.  We have opened shops across Texas, Louisiana and out to the East coast.  I have worked Main street shops, mall kiosks, booths at the county fair and out of a van on the side of the road.  I learned very early on about getting up early, working hard and putting in your share.  People like to talk about "owning it"  I know what that actually means.  It means that YOU are the one who is responsible.  If you own it, you don't get to hang up the sign at 5:00 and walk out.  You are done when the job is done.  That was how I was raised.

Through that upbringing I learned how to talk to people of all kinds and I learned how to sell.  Knowing how to sell is handy if you want to get your officers or students on board with a new idea.  I know how to stay on my feet all day and I know how to think outside the box, come up with a new idea and adapt.
