I designed the flow and inventory forecast model used to provide DC management with information needed to plan for space and labor requirements. I also worked with cross-functional teams to enable more efficient flow of product through the Supply Chain. I created scorecards to track volume forecast accuracy in order to show areas of potential improvement.
I developed freight factor calculations for suppliers that takes into account inbound, handling and outbound costs of going through the Sam’s Club’s supply chain. I handled multiple bid analyses which included analyzing a suppliers costs, capabilities and ship points to find the best supplier to do business with. I also led the development of creating processes and procedures of what goes into freight factor calculations and supply chain decisions. Lastly, I prompted an initiative to identify the top suppliers that are shipping less than truckload shipments that should be shipping full truck load shipments. Not only does shipping full truckloads reduce cost, but also it decreases lead-time and reduces the number of touches on the product. The project ultimately identified $3.1 million of savings from the top 10 suppliers.
Achieved cost reduction through effective inventory and replenishment strategies by removing low-performing products and concentrating on high-demand items. Enhanced inventory productivity by identifying and focusing on key category drivers while reducing low-selling products. Increased sales and demand through the execution of promotional events for select product lines.
I performed detailed spend analysis to identify and aid in the implementation of cost-saving opportunities. This includes finding areas of spend where I negotiated lower costs through creating enterprise-wide contracts. For example, I led bidding events where I spoke on behalf of my stakeholders to potential suppliers. After identifying a supplier, I negotiated terms, conditions, prices and then created a contract with said supplier. Additionally, I evaluated rates and cost structures across multiple areas to create accurate historical cost models.
I developed and maintained positive and effective relations with vendors/suppliers/customers to facilitate timely and accurate inventory delivery. I also identified, analyzed, addressed, and communicated vendor performance issues to the appropriate Partner. Lastly, I developed an open and collaborative relationship with business partners to research and determine the root cause of problems affecting service, inventory, and solutions to these issues.
I performed third-party cost analysis, process analysis, and data analysis. The third-party cost analysis ensured that the third-party warehouse stacked product to the maximum Ti x Hi configuration to reduce storage costs. I updated the master list, which the third-party warehouse uses to ascertain how to configure the pallets they receive for storage. The process analysis evaluated ways to improve the flow between HEB’s ice cream plant and the frozen warehouse. My recommendations reduced costs, process redundancies, and the amount of time it took to unload and induct a trailer. The data analysis validated product information between warehouses and brought to light the inconsistencies found in the system.
Developed a cross-training matrix, encouraged Partners, resolved Partner issues, and learned the warehouse process. I created a cross-training matrix for the other team leaders to know which Partners are trained in other warehouse areas. At the start of the shift, I went over the number of trailers, the goals for the day, and prior daily performance with Partners. Additionally, I learned the complex warehouse processes, including understanding each Partner’s role and their impact on other areas.
