Contracted by the Florida Partnership for Healthy People, Healthy Places to be Project Director, a funder collaborative (Health Foundation of South Florida, Quantum, Jesse Ball Dupont Fund, Winterpark Health Foundation, Allegany Franciscan Ministries, Blue Foundation) designed to engage people across sectors so they can connect and complement each other’s work, to transform places so they foster health, prosperity and well-being, to ensure equity by focusing on vulnerable populations and communities, and to change policies so systems and structures intentionally support health and wellness. As a part of building the membership base performed the following:

  • Conducted data collection of vision, expectations and commitments
  • Responsibility for reviewing Strategic Plan and insuring that objectives and activities outline parties responsible and 'who will do what by when.'
  • Coordinate and facilitate month conference calls, in-person quarterly one-day meeting. Documenting action steps and responsibility for follow up on activities of the FPHPHP
  • Recruitment of members, facilitation of shared funding projects, member engagement and Serve as central point of contact.

Contracted by the Miami Coalition for the Homeless to serve as the backbone facilitator for a local a Youth Homeless Initiative utilizing the Collective Impact Model.

  • Facilitate issue specific workgroup chairs and members to develop schedule of monthly meetings for the 8 committees.
  • Work with issue specific workgroup chairs and members to develop a shared learning and action plan for the group.
  • Develop agendas for the issue specific workgroups to include: timeframe for each activity, person responsible, desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate in person meetings for each issue specific workgroup 1 time a month (or as needed).
  • Introduce norms, maintain participant accountability to norms, maintain focus on agenda and timeframes set, create a 'parking lot' space for items not on agenda that surface and either come back to them in same meeting or set item on agenda for next meeting, close with "what worked, what would you change"; document summary of discussion, outcomes, challenges, decisions, etc; Produce an action plan (as needed) following each meeting to track progress on next steps identified in meeting and distribute action plan to participants within 1 week of the meeting.
  • Collaborate with other community stakeholders as needed or requested by workgroup committee chairs or members.
  • Engage in strategic thinking about additional activities that might surface and provides recommendations, research, and analysis around key issues and decisions being considered.
  • Year-end final report to include summary and recommendations for future planning and action for each of the committees.
  • Coordination of a year-end symposium to introduce the results of the year long research and exploration to the community.

Contracted by the Age Friendly Initiative to be Project Director, a collaborative (Health Foundation of United Health Partnership, ReServe, Alliance for Aging, Miami Dade County Parks and Recreation, United Way,) designed to engage people across sectors so they can connect and complement each other’s work, to transform places so they foster health, prosperity and well-being, to ensure equity by focusing in changing, enhancing and investing in making Miami Dade County an Age Friendly Community.

  • As the Facilitator for the Communications Workgroup I was lead on the following:
  • Conduct data collection of vision, expectations and commitments with existing partners of the Florida Partnership for Healthy People, Healthy Places.
  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly in-person quarterly meetings; Document action steps and responsibility for follow up on activities.

  • The Teen Cuisine program is located in the courtyard of the Miami-Dade Juvenile Justice Center, serves breakfast and lunch to the public, is operated by at-risk youth who earn the privilege of working in Teen Cuisine by maintaining acceptable attendance and grades
  • Now a fixture at the Juvenile Justice Center after seventeen years of operation, Teen Cuisine was selected by the Miami New Times several years ago in their annual 'Best of Miami' Teen Cuisine results in jobs in the food industry, increasing entrepreneurial skills and increased self-esteem for at risk youth
  • After being closed for one year, as consultant the activities will include:
  • Research best practice (revenue) models that offer catering/food services to the community through the deployment and empowering of at-risk youth
  • Build partnerships with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, local Juvenile Justice system and community based organizations that serve at-risk youth
