Cooper Gillum

I am a hardworking, flexible person who has good communication and critical thinking skills. I have been in many clubs and organizations where I have been in a leadership position including being a chair in Student Council. I have dedicated a majority of my life and free time outside of school to service. Whether it is customer service or just public service through clubs like Key Club, Student Council, National Honour Society, or any one of the other countless service clubs I participated in. Both through my work with my school and my work through my job I have demonstrated a high level of commitment to service. And it is something I want to continue doing. Whether it be helping someone with their research project or working at another deli. I believe I was made to serve and I want to continue to help people in my daily life.

I also contain a personable and reliable with strong commitment to customer service and teamwork. Possesses solid understanding of food safety standards and effective communication skills. Aims to contribute to positive shopping experience for customers through attentive and friendly service.

And I have developed strong customer service abilities and attention to detail in fast-paced retail environment. Proven ability to manage inventory and maintain cleanliness standards. Seeking to transition into new field, leveraging excellent communication and organizational skills.

• May 2021 to May 2025
• The Student Council at my school is responsible for the events and activities that occur during the school year. I was the chair of the Culture and Climate Committee for two years, which is responsible for the atmosphere of the school. They plan events such as Week Without Hate and Teacher Appreciation Week.

I was very active in my school. I was in a total of twelve clubs including book club, film club, German Club, SADD Chapter, FBLA, Letterman’s, Student Union, and Repair Club. I participated in NHS, Key Club, Jag Crew, and Student Council. I wasthe chair of my committee in the Student Council for two years and was init for four years. I attended the Missouri Association of Student Councils' Districts leadership event for the past three years and have attended their statewide meets at MASC State and MASC summer camp as well. I volunteer at Open Door Animal Shelter. I have also volunteered for and with Special Olympics for events including Polar Plunge and the Desoto Special Olympic Track Meet. I participated in March For Hunger and have volunteered to work the Job Fair in my school district for the past two years. Most recently, I was a recipient of the Distinguished Student Leader Award which required me to have a specific number of service hours and be a part of a certain amount of leadership training events.

• Key Club is a branch of the Kiwanis organization that works in my high school and focuses on serving our community. With Key Club, I have folded flags for passed veterans, made blankets for children's hospitals, and made birthday bags for the less fortunate kids in my school.

• April 2023 to May 2025
• National Honor Society is an organization that focuses on helping and serving the community in and around Seckman High School. I have been in National Honor Society for the past two years and have done service activities such as setting up a BBQ for new members and planning for future service opportunities. I also participated in their annual blood drive, toy drive, and I've set up a dinner for the teachers with NHS.

• Student Union is a student-led organization geared towards the betterment of our school and environment for our students.

I am the recipient of the Earl Collins Foundation Scholarship which is a scholarship given to students who have dedicated a vast amount of time to public service and it is given through the Kiwanis organization. I was a recipient of the Distinguished Student Leader Award which required me to have a specific number of service hours and be a part of a certain amount of leadership training events.
