Biological Technician Intern
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
I worked with biologists and federal staff on a wide variety of related activities such as wildlife conservation, and habitat management projects in Kenai Refuge Alaska.
I assisted with identifying invasive plant species and the removal of them through habitat restoration efforts. Navigated remote terrain by foot, ATV, plane, and canoe. Worked and traversed in challenging remote conditions including in mountains, and wetlands like hip-deep water. Loaded and unloaded ATVs, trailers, and field equipment. Utilizing navigation equipment like Garmin GPS and field data collecting. Supporting office staff outside assigned internship responsibilities when needed. Helped organized and maintain records and permits. Checked permit status and expiration dates. Adapted to constantly changing assignments. Problem-solving in field environments whilst performing
professional conduct within a federal agency.
Additional Law Enforcement experience/exposure
- Collaborated with Search and Rescue volunteers, Federal U.S. Fish & Wildlife Officers, and Alaska State troopers during my internship.
- Participated in various ride alongs with Federal U.S. Fish & Wildlife Officer checking permits, fly overs, and community Interactions in Kenai AK.
- Participated in interviews and ride alongs with Alaska State Troopers in Bethel, AK. Observing community interaction, traffic enforcement, Investigation, and office work.
