I've worked as an independent bench jeweler for the past 15 years. Initially opening a storefront in Saratoga Springs, NY. There I offered jewelry repair, custom jewelry as well as a line of jewelry consisting of rings, pendants and earrings. Eventually closing my doors and working from my home studio I continued to offer the same services while maintaining a successful online business. Through the years my work has varied from fabricated designs, cast pieces and hand engraved work. I have become proficient working under a microscope, setting many sizes and types of gemstones. Using a jewelers torch for soldering both silver and gold, using polishing wheels and files. I find that my skillset is crowned with my pneumatic hand engraving capabilities. By developing both gem setting and engraving skills under a microscope I am able to troubleshoot and fix problems often before they occur. Also by working directly with clients through the years I have learned exactly what is expected and envisioned by them. How to execute a repair job both efficiently and accurately.
I feel that opening a brick and mortar store to both sell my work and offer a direct artisan to consumer dialog was a high point for my career. Albeit being at the beginning of my career with moderate success, I quickly learned the scale what to do and not to do in the jewelry business.
