- At the Center, my job was to help intellectually and developmentally disabled persons with their everyday lives. That being said, I assist my nurse with changing dressings and administering topical medications. I also take the vital signs, check and change the resident, and assist with shaving, showers, and their oral care. We help assist with their meals, and going to and from classes and activities. We answer calls, give information to callers, and transfer calls to appropriate individuals. Before the day is done, we do all of our paperwork, which includes MARS and wet and drys. We clean up our unit and restore it to how it was prior to our shift.
