As a DEI specialist at Sauer Group Inc., Courtney has focused her efforts on bridging the gap between corporations and communities to ensure companies are not just great business partners but community partners as well. With only a year in the industry, Courtney has successfully awarded over $500,000 in contracts to MBEs in Central Ohio. She is fueled by the belief that MBE contracting is more than a state requirement but a key business strategy for workforce development. She has established several comprehensive plans that result in demonstrably achieving high levels of inclusion and engagement with MBE contractors and their development during projects. Outside of contracting, as a community Coordinator Courtney has allocated funds to community centers across Ohio. Increasing awareness and engagement with underserved and underrepresented businesses and community members.
During her time at Sauer Group Inc. Courtney transitioned to learning Project Management. She worked closely with PEs, PMs, and assistant PMs to learn estimating, projections, procurement, construction management, and overall construction best practices.
Additionally, Courtney is the first and youngest African American woman to be a part of the OSU fisher college of business 'Rising Leaders' program. A program teaching vital skills in project management and community relations.
While in this position, Courtney has obtained competency in communication between different crafts and people, financial management, initiative, SEBE contracting, workforce development, and more. All in all, Courtney is a leader who consistently demonstrates a passion for community, diplomacy, initiative, adaptability, and the ability to achieve social and institutional change.
Association Director
Implement culturally inclusive programs, practices, and policies. Additionally, host cultural sensitivity training for workforce and community members.
Fuel cultural competency on an internal, community, and eventually, national level by establishing healthy living programs, diabetes prevention, and safety around water programs, even in underserved communities where YMCA facilities were not present. My efforts were recognized by Mayor Mattie Parker and Opal Lee at the associations first Juneteenth Event where I worked as Project Manager. Whether working on community outreach projects, efforts for transformation development, participating in training programs to further efficacy and education or simply interacting with community members and colleagues. These are just a few highlights of the work we were able to accomplish in our time together.
