A 23 year survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault, Courtney Santana is the CEO of The Survive2Thrive Foundation and the Managing Partner of SANCTUARY Platform LLC. Courtney has served as a lobbyist and on the policy task force for the Texas Council on Family Violence. She is also a member of the Travis County Family Supervisor’s Group. Courtney joined the law enforcement advisory board for The Biden Foundation and was appointed District 6 Commissioner to the Human Rights Commission for the City of Austin. She is a member of the City of Austin Reimagining Public Safety Task Force and the Equity Action Team. Courtney is a nationally-known speaker and the author of OFF KILTER: Getting “Right” After Abuse. Courtney has been featured in several magazines for her work as a vocalist and an advocate of domestic violence awareness and in March 2017, she received a proclamation from Austin Mayor Steve Adler, proclaiming March 3 is Courtney Santana Day in Austin, Texas. She is a proud member of the SIMS board of directors. Courtney has won many community service awards including the SXSW Dewey Winburne Community Service Award, the RecognizeGood Code Of Ethics Award, Austin INNO 50 on Fire Award, The Butler Spirit of Collaboration Award, and the Winters Award for Non Profit Leadership. Courtney was also nominated for the Texas Women In Business Award for a Non Profit, The Austin Woman Magazine's Philanthropist of the Year, and the DivInc Non Profit Leader of the Year Award.
Courtney Santana has been in music, live music theater, and dance for over 35 years. This dancer/model has been a featured vocalist on over 15 albums and she has performed with and alongside Brannen Temple, Guy Forsyth, Patrice Pike, Strings Attached, Malford Milligan, Matt Wilson, Nakia, Chanel Haynes, ShinyRibs and more. She has also opened for national acts like Kirk Whalum, Kyle Turner, Salt N Pepa, and Musiq Soulchild. She is currently singing with the world renowned ShinyRibs and performing in venues as Courtney Santana. She releases her first full length album in 2023.
As a member of Austin’s theater community, she has performed in some of Austin’s most loved musical performances including Dreamgirls, Fame, Porgy & Bess, and RENT. She also made it to the final producer rounds of NBC’s The Voice.
In May of 2012, she was honored to be the cover of Austin Women’s Magazine for her work as a vocalist and an advocate of domestic violence and in 2017, she received a proclamation from Mayor Steve Adler, proclaiming March 3 is Courtney Santana Day in Austin Texas.
