Used ArcGIS to visually display the correlation between student accomplishment and access to green space. Data provided by the US Census, NCES, and the Atlanta Regional Commission were complied into excel and visualized in ArcGIS into 4 maps that displayed open green space, tree canopy cover, and student testing results.
Findings: High School Student performance had a direct correlation with access to public green space within 1 mile of the school campus. Schools that experienced greater amounts of open public green space and biophilic views saw students achieving higher scores on the SAT and ACT, as well as higher graduation rates.
