As an Assistant Specialist in the Pereira Lab, my duties include assisting with grant, manuscript, and lab protocol preparation;

updating and maintaining lab training records, lab inventory, and lab chemical inventory; packing for and assisting with field sample collection such as milk, fecal, and deep nasal swabs; conducting various microbiological work such as DNA extraction, plating bacteria, minimum inhibitory concentration testing; communicating with producers and administering surveys

• As a student veterinary technician at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital, my duties included assisting with large animal inpatient monitoring and treatments; setting up for appointments and emergencies; assisting with medical procedures; restocking and sanitization of exam rooms.

• As a curriculum contributor, I worked with the California 4-H office and UC Agriculture and Natural Resources to develop National 4-H manuals for goat husbandry, poultry production, climate change, and antimicrobial stewardship. This included extensive research on the topics, working in the field to collect photos for the manuals, writing information sheets and chapter introductions, developing interactive modules to aid in learning, and pilot testing our projects with 4-H youth.

• While residing at the university's goat facility, I milked and fed goats; monitored health and behavior; administered treatments; monitored does for around the clock kidding and assisted in dystocias; processed kids (including ear notching, disbudding, and tattooing); reared kids; documented animal identification and health events for barn use; participated in DHI milk tests and recordation; worked with veterinarians in routine and emergency procedures.

• As a student research assistant in the Lima lab, my duties included packing and prepping necessary supplies; recording patient information and ultrasound findings; sorting and handling dairy cows; administering intramuscular injections; taking blood samples from the coccygeal vein; processing blood samples.

• As an intern at Superior Farms, my duties included research and development of projects for plant improvement; acting as project manager of carcass sanitation, air sanitation, X-ray implementation, blood meal production.

• As a student employee at the university sheep barn, my duties included feeding sheep and cleaning the facility pens; monitoring health and behavior; administering treatments; irrigation; fence repair; and assisting during times of lambing.
