As a Mechanical Supervisor, I managed day-to-day operations at a major terminal and within the Mechanical Operations Center, overseeing the inspection, maintenance, and repair of locomotives through unionized staff in a 24/7 environment. My role focused on ensuring fleet availability, reliability, and adherence to safety standards, while meeting customer commitments. Key responsibilities included:

• Safety & Compliance: Led safety initiatives, coached staff on safe work practices, and investigated and resolved locomotive failures. Implemented and enforced standard operating procedures, ensuring a strong safety culture and high compliance with performance monitoring rules.
• Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Analyzed data to drive fleet reliability, made critical decisions on locomotive repairs, and managed troubleshooting for emergency situations.
• Workload Planning & Organization: Prioritized locomotive repairs, minimized downtime, and optimized workforce efficiency to ensure high productivity and meet performance targets.
• Leadership & Supervision: Directed and coached both union and non-union staff, conducted performance evaluations, managed training, and ensured smooth operations for locomotive assembly, disassembly, and maintenance activities.

I consistently worked to improve processes, reduce environmental impact, and foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring high standards in locomotive performance and operational efficiency.
