Caring and compassionate Practical Nurse, and a veteran of OIF in the US Army Reserves. Proficient and caring nursing team member offering outstanding patient-facing experience. Adept at addressing patient needs with compassionate care and attention to detail. Diligent about maximizing satisfaction, safety and wellness while serving patients of all backgrounds.
Initially, I was assigned to a Human Resources unit based out of St. Paul. We were assigned further training at Fort Jackson, SC, to obtain our F5 identifier, which is postal. In 2009-2010 our unit deployed to Baghdad, Iraq. There we served the APO's in central Iraq as well as being the Plans and Ops unit. While deployed for 12 months I was promoted twice from PFC to SPC, then SPC to SGT. When I was promoted to SGT I was assigned to a training Battalion in Fort McCoy, WI where I then finished my time in service.
My duties throughout all of time in service were to complete any given task brought to me by my superiors. I would learn and complete these tasks as orders and with great pride.
I assisted participants ADL's at SarahCare. The participants would be at the center from 8-4pm. We served them breakfast, lunch and snacks. The participants were assisted in the restroom, showering, with activities, there was a nurse on-site that administered medications, I would cover the medication passes as needed.
My favorite part of this job was building relationships with the participants and their families. I loved hearing their stories and reminiscing about their lives.
