Gained customer service skills through caring for customers as they enjoyed a meal. I was constantly checking on them, ensuring all their needs were met without them having to ask.
I received helpful leadership skills through working with not only other servers, but a multitude of people in other positions. Without ensuring each employee was pulling their weight, nothing would run efficiently; therefore, I had to delegate tasks to others frequently in goal of keeping the restaurant functioning optimally.
If I had any free time, I knew it should be spent helping others who need it, with the businesses best interest in mind.
From working the expo position in the kitchen, I gained organization skills. All the platters in the window could appear quite similar, so separating them by ticket and making sure each plate was correct and received the right sides, sauces, etc. was my responsibility.
It also taught me to work well in high-stress environments; the kitchen could become overwhelmed easily when we were faced with large amounts of tickets coming in one after the other. Being able to work under pressure was a skill I had to learn.
I have 3-years experience entering orders through a Toast POS system, as well as 4 years experience completing all opening and/or closing tasks throughout shifts.
Answered questions about menu items, ingredients, and pricing.
Bussed tables as needed during peak hours.
Prepared checks accurately and processed payments promptly.
Checked back with customers throughout meal service to ensure satisfaction.
