Marketing Director

Al Meera Consumer Goods

Al Meera is a public sharing holding company and the largest retailer in Qatar, with over 60 branches in the country and 20 mini-malls. In my role, I am managing the Marketing Department and all related functions. My responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the below:

  • Generating a long-term marketing strategy along with annual marketing plans and budgets in alignment with the business plan and sales targets
  • Full management of the loyalty program with member base of 350,000+ including program budget/scheme/structure, newsletter, raffles & promotions, monthly targeted campaigns in line with annual strategy, personalized marketing, insights and reporting, etc.)
  • Public relations – development and implementation of PR and communication plan with key messages through newspapers and social media, community outreach, interviews, etc
  • Responsible for all brand identity, marketing and communication activities including evaluating the branding, re-branding, developing all stationery and marketing collaterals, all outgoing communications, press releases, advertising, exhibitions and conferences, etc
  • Managing the weekly promotional flyers design, production and distribution channels
  • Managing the design team for any designs for in store deco, campaigns, events, etc
  • Creating and implementing marketing plans for new branch openings and projects to ensuring success and positive corporate image
  • Developing digital marketing strategy and campaigns – social media platforms, community management, organic promotions and engagement posting, online competitions, targeted marketing campaigns, awareness and conversion campaigns, etc
  • Responsible for advertising and media bookings (online and offline)
  • Working with government and private bodies for sponsorships and activations
  • Planning all CSR initiatives and activations on a corporate and branch level in addition to in collaboration with ministries and other entities
  • Responsible for complaint management and customer service utilizing ticketing systems such as Zoho and SAAS, call center, website, in-branch comment box, social media platforms, surveys, etc
  • Working closely with the other functions such as commercial, operations, IT, supply chain, leasing and projects to ensure alignment across all activities
  • Managing the look and feel across all branches and update as needed, enhance and improve customer experience in branches, approve look and feel in new branch openings and renovations, etc
  • Managing customer journey online and offline
  • Responsible for in-store deco and customer experience at all times, especially during main events such as Ramadan, National Day, Anniversary Sale and Back to School, among others.
  • A Few Highlights:
  • Introduced the first Reverse Vending Machines in Qatar across 22 branches and working with government entities and large organizations on raising awareness on recycling
  • Managed the opening, from branding and customer journey to grand opening event and media campaign, for 10 branches during 2019-2022 introducing wholesale concept branches and fully automated check-out free smart branches
  • Supported the business and achieved positive financial results for four consecutive years followed by the design and finalization of Annual Reports for shareholders
  • Launched the floating marketing, the first of its kind in Qatar, offering a supermarket on a boat in the middle of the sea for island goers and jet ski and yachts owners
  • Actively worked with FIFA and the Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy in addition to relevant government entities leading to the successful World Cup FIFA Qatar 2022
  • As an exclusive retailer with Official Licensed FIFA products, successfully managed the launch and marketing of the products with strong digital campaigns, influencer coverage, in-store point of sale material, etc
  • Designed and launched 10 temporary branches with world cup look and feel in strategic locations such as Fan Accommodation areas, bus depots, etc.
  • Launched the first fully autonomous check-out free supermarket in Qatar and the region. Managed look-and-feel, customer journey, branding, PR, marketing plan, influencer coverage, etc.
  • Designs and launched the e-commerce platform for online ordering and finalized partnerships with four delivery applications (Talabat, Instashop, Rafeeq and Snoonu) for added exposure and increase in sales.

  • Closely manage and monitor the marketing and project teams to ensure that all corporate and project media plans are properly aligned
  • Ensure a sustainable look and feel for all corporate and project identities through closely coordinating with all creative agencies and production houses
  • Assist and collaborate to determine strategy and manage execution within the organization by collaborating with Engineering, planning and all other team and cross functional marketing counterparts
  • Deliver and implement an appropriate annual corporate advertising and branding strategy within agreed budget

  • A Few Highlights:
  • Developed and launched the new logo and brand
  • Managed the creation of logo, name and brand of 4 large multi-use developments for a client in addition to their marketing plan and budget
  • Created the brand and identity of a Residential Community, The Park Residences, consisting of 890 apartments and managed the offline and digital campaign achieving 100% occupancy in the first year.
  • Launched the call center, CRM system for The Park Residences.
  • Applied and received award for Best International Development Marketing by International Property Awards, UK.
