Mr. Dorsett started a nonprofit called the Feet First Foundation independently on his own developing 3.5M in 5 years. Dan is a dedicated and visionary leader who recently serves as the Executive Director and CEO of Feet First California. In 2016, he recognized a critical gap in activity-based counseling for at-risk youth and, as a single father himself, took the initiative to establish Feet First California. In his role, he focuses on advancing the organization’s mission to forge resilient youth through movement and mindset.
At the helm of Feet First California, Dan’s responsibilities encompass a wide range of strategic functions. He adeptly manages committees and staff, collaborates with executive team members to formulate marketing plans, and forges meaningful partnerships with educational institutions through the development of school contracts. Dan also plays a pivotal role in nurturing relationships with state departments, solidifying the organization's impact on a broader scale.
Drawing from his educational background, Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University. He further honed his expertise by pursuing legal studies at Golden Gate University, where he gained insights into the intricate workings of law. In addition to his leadership role at Feet First California, Dan serves as an acting Arbitrator for the California State Bar Association, advocating for complex family court cases—a testament to his commitment to justice and community service.
With a multifaceted approach to leadership, Dan spearheads fundraising efforts, engages in grant writing initiatives, and oversees marketing strategies, all while safeguarding the reputation and essence of the Feet First California brand. He has been at the forefront of innovative campaigns, including the "Kids First" initiative in partnership with Contra Costa County Courts, emphasizing the well-being and development of young individuals.
