To start with, i'm retired and 74 years old, I've worked all my life and can still carry my own weight. I've worked 5 years as the only maintenance man in the hospital. I performed all aspects of the job to keep the hospital running with no problems. i performed preventive maintenance on all pieces of equipment vital to the operation of the hospital. i performed weekly regular generator (2) tests. Pm on all air conditioners. I have experience with hydraulics, working on big 2000 ton high injection plastic presses. In my 50 years of work. i have done almost everything. I have traveled all over the country doing warranty work for Holophane, a lighting factory. i'm bored and need something to do.
I was hired to perform all types of maintenance at a brand new hospital. After about 3 years, i was the only one in maintenance, including supervisor. I assembled all kinds of equipment due to the start up of the hospital. I worked on hospital beds, hydraulics, pm's on all the building air conditioners, changing filters and grease bearings. repair lighting, monitor the temps in the surgery department thru a computer system. I repaired any and all plumbing issues. On large projects where contractors were involved I made all arrangements to get work done. i took a year long school for HVAC that helped in my knowledge of the big commercial air handlers.
I hired on right out of the marine corps. I started as a draftsman, having schooling and a certificate, one year. After 6 months they needed someone to travel for warranty repair in the field. I went all over the country making repairs on lighting already installed, working on all types of lifts. I applied for an 4 year apprenticeship at Holophane an got the job. I worked in a glass factory with extreme heat and dirty conditions. I made repairs on all equipment and aspects of making glass. I worked on 3 big high injection plastic presses. I have a vast experience in making any repair.
I'm retired and have a small repair business just to keep busy. I have flipped 5 apartments from top to bottom. The last one i did I painted all walls and ceilings. I demoed a kitchen and bathroom and rebuilt with new parts. I laid down 6oo sq ft of LVT flooring. I work part time for a realtor making repairs. I've remodeled 3 unfinished rooms in my basement.
