As the System Operator I am responsible for the safe operation of a 15.2MGD Drinking water plant. I run laboratory tests every four hours for quality of the drinking water we produce at the plant. The tests I run include but are not limited to chlorine, ammonia, color testing, water turbidity testing, alkalinity, hardness, ph, and fluoride. I enjoy working in the lab and feel that I am proficient with the instruments I use to perform my job. I am also responsible for washing filters, calibrating online analyzers as needed, troubleshooting any problems that come up during the course of my shift and notifying maintenance people and supervision when there are any problems.

• Operate and maintain three belt filter presses, ensuring efficient flow of sludge, water, and polymer for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct daily sampling and laboratory analysis to monitor press operation and maintain compliance with environmental standards.
• Load and transport dewatered solids (cake) to trailers for landfill disposal; safely move trucks throughout the facility.
• Assist Operations Lead with plant-wide tasks including pump and valve operation, equipment troubleshooting, general labor, and site maintenance.
• Perform laboratory duties twice weekly, analyzing samples from various treatment stages (raw, primary, final effluent, aeration, and WAS).
• Utilize techniques such as settleometer tests, centrifuge spins, pH and chlorine residual testing, and microscopic analysis to assess water quality.

• Performed daily operations to ensure safe and efficient water distribution, including reading master meters and conducting chlorine testing using a colorimeter.
• Collected and transported Disinfection Byproducts (DBP) and bacteriological samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assisted customers with billing issues, processed payments, and investigated potential service leaks to support customer satisfaction and system reliability.
• Supported field operations by repairing water main breaks, replacing faulty water meters, exercising valves, and flushing fire hydrants.
• Contributed to the maintenance and upkeep of Water District facilities and infrastructure.

• Inspected, maintained, and repaired railroad tracks, ties, and switches across the plant to ensure safe and efficient rail operations.
• Operated a variety of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment to perform track work in compliance with safety standards.
• Followed strict safety protocols and procedures in a heavy industrial environment, contributing to a culture of workplace safety and reliability.
