I am a recently retired Police Captain with the Bakersfield Police Department. I have 23 years of experience in law enforcement and have had the privilege of working many different assignments during my tenure with a vast range of expertise and experience. I have the proven ability to successfully manage and lead teams while focusing on team collaboration, achieving results, adapting to changing needs, and leveraging skills in strategic planning and problem solving.
I am highly motivated with a sharp focus on leadership and operational excellence. I have expertise in strategic planning, crime prevention, and community engagement. I believe these traits help ensure reliable and effective outcomes in dynamic environments. I am extremely versatile, with proven ability to manage complex situations to provide positive team outcomes.
I have extensive training and real-world experience in criminal investigations such as property crimes, burglary, theft, financial crimes, career criminal apprehension, undercover operations, violent gang investigations, crimes against children, domestic violence, and human trafficking. I am proficient in traffic collision investigations and DUI related investigations. I have testified in court as a subject matter expert in each of the aforementioned fields.
I have planned, facilitated, and supervised large scale security operations dealing with response to identified threat assessments. I have supervised and/or managed hundreds of different personnel such as officers, detectives, civilian staff, and supervisors during my tenure. I believe my leadership has helped mentor and develop future leaders both in their professional and personal lives.
I have always been an honest and true leader. My reputation and work history are proof of my commitment to my organization and the personnel I have mentored over the years. I believe leadership is striving to make the people around me better and to help make the organization stronger as a whole. I believe in developing strong, competent, confident leaders as they will provide future examples for any organization they serve.
I am extremely passionate about employee wellness, not just in the law enforcement community, but within the community as a whole. I was a wellness and peer support coordinator during my time with the Bakersfield Police Department and I currently serve on a non-profit advisory board for Shielding the Frontline Kern County which is an organization that encompasses peer support and wellness services for local first responders. I have also been involved in trauma based debriefs with local businesses not associated with law enforcement.
I am Bakersfield native, born and raised. My life and career have always been around serving my community. I have built professional and personal relationships with local community leaders, faith-based organizations, diverse advocates and community groups, and leaders from private organizations. I have dedicated a substantial part of my life and career to public service and career development of those I have worked with, regardless of where they are in their personal or professional lives.
I strongly believe in building strong community partnerships and volunteering my time within the community. I believe in teamwork and putting trust in others. I never performed my duties in my profession for personal accolades or recognition, but for the community and those I have worked along side.
