Daniel Rockey

During the summer of 2024, I spent four weeks working on a farm in Colombia, where I took part in daily crop harvesting and general farm maintenance. I helped with tasks like picking fruits and vegetables, weeding fields, and keeping the workspace clean and organized. In addition to the fieldwork, I played a key role in preparing meals for the workers—cutting vegetables, dicing meats, and helping cook fresh, high-quality meals made from all-natural, locally sourced ingredients. The experience taught me how to handle physical labor, stay consistent with a daily routine, and take pride in contributing to a team, both in the field and the kitchen

Academic Achievements

• Maintained a 3.76 GPA in the International Baccalaureate Program while taking 2 AP, 2 IB SL, and 4 IB HL courses.
• Consistently earned honor roll status in a rigorous academic environment.
• Conducted a meta-analysis on the impact of sodium bicarbonate and caffeine on endurance athlete performance.
• Wrote an IB Extended Essay on the effects of caffeine on cross country athletes, designing and conducting an original experiment with full scientific and statistical analysis of the results

Athletic Achievements

• School record holder in the 5k (15:08) and ranked 6th in Virginia during the 2024 Cross Country season.
• 2024 Region 5A Cross Country Champion and 2024 Outdoor Track & Field 3200m State Champion.
• 2025 Region Champion in both the 1000m and 3200m events.
• Earned 3x All-State honors
• ranked 46th nationally in the 1000m run.
• Qualified for 2024 Adidas Indoor Nationals (1000m, 1600m)
• Qualified for 2025 New Balance Indoor Nationals (800m, mile, 2-mile).
• Named Athlete of the Season at the 2024 Fall Sports Awards Ceremony.
• Demonstrated long-term growth and perseverance, improving from a 25:21 5k as a freshman to 15:08 as a senior.
