  • Trained new nurses in proper techniques, care standards, operational procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Coordinated nursing care on unit through staff assignments, assisting and rounding with physicians, monitoring patient orders, and communicating with ancillary departments.
  • Conducted daily shift briefs to inform staff of changes in patient care assignments.
  • Mentored and supervised junior nurses, fostering a supportive and professional work environment. Also orientating student nurses from various colleges regarding care for patients who are at end of life.
  • Case manager for Arizona Palliative Care (part of Hospice of the Valley) for a year. Case manager for Hospice for 4 years then transferred to the Surprise Inpatient unit for 6 years. Triage phone nurse on the Sundays when help was requested.
  • Provide education to caregivers and patients regarding all aspects of their care including both medical and emotional at end of life.
