I got laid off from John Deere Davenport works back in August of 2021, and was out of a job. I didn't know what I wanted to do, so I was just trying to think of new things to do for work. My brother in law is a Fireman and my sister is an EMT. I sat down with my mom to think of some jobs that I could do and she suggested the idea of being a first responder just to try it out. I reached out to my brother in law to see what steps I would have to take to see how I could go about doing a job shadow. I did a job shadow back in September at Moline Fire on the firetruck and ambulance, and absolutely fell in love with the job. I felt a sense of passion and feeling I have never felt towards a job before, and I knew it would be something I was passionate about.
