Summary

I am a Police Lieutenant currently employed by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and will soon be retiring after twenty six years of service to the community. I am seeking to continue my law enforcement career as a Police Lieutenant with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority

Police Department. For nineteen of my almost twenty-six years employed with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office I have served in a leadership and supervisory position. In that time I have learned countless lessons on what makes a good leader and have continually strived to be that type of leader. Throughout my career | have taken several leadership courses. My supervisors have said that am a well-rounded Lieutenant with leadership abilities and talents. I am very approachable and love working as part of a team. My goal is to continue to make myself a better leader as a Lieutenant with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority. To join a team that exceeds the aviation need of the City of Jacksonville, Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

Police Lieutenant

I am currently assigned to District 2/Day Shift/Blue Squad and the

Commanding Officer over three Sergeants and their squads.

My daily duties include:

Ensuring proper coverage of the different sectors and sub-sectors.

Planning, directing and coordinating police activities within the district, such as deployments to address crime trends in the district..

Ensuring crime scenes are handled properly.

Investigating incidents of policy violation to include in house and those referred to me by Internal Affairs. Counseling employees and issuing training and discipline as needed.

Creating training opportunities such as active shooter drills at area high schools and FSCJ.

Police Sergeant/Detective Sergeant

While serving as a Sergeant I was assigned to Districts 2 and 4 as well as the Crime Scene Unit. While in the Crime Scene Unit I also supervised detectives assigned to the Mayor's Office, the Polygraph Unit, The General Counsel's Office, Jacksonville Electric Authority and Public Works.

My daily duties included:

I monitored a squad of officers to ensure they were completing assignments correctly and in a timely manner such as General Investigative Reports, dockets and filing packets.

I encouraged officers to participate in on view activities such as traffic stops, stopping suspicious people and assisting other officers with their calls for service.

I responded to and took command of scenes to direct officers to ensure the scene was safe and secure. I made appropriate notifications.

I completed annual evaluations for all employees under my command.

Police Officer/Police Detective

While serving as a Police Officer I handled a wide variety of calls for service from the community. These calls ranged from civil non-criminal to serious felonies. I conducted traffic enforcement as well as investigated traffic crashes.

I also served as a Burglary Detective and investigated residential and business burglaries as well as high dollar theft.

Correctional Probation Senior Officer

I monitored a caseload of offenders placed on Probation or Community Control. Each person under my supervision was court ordered to complete conditions of their probation. During my time with the Department of Corrections I supervised all kinds of offenders from those sentenced for writing fraudulent checks, to sex offenders and sex predators, to death row inmates with sentences commuted to life on parole. I also supervised a caseload of certified juvenile offenders and those sentenced to Community Control. Some that were sentenced to Community Control were also required to wear ankle location monitoring devices.

In my current position as a Lieutenant I oversee three Sergeants and their squads. I regularly conduct roll call training to address new policies, trends in law enforcement as well as discussions of recent calls for service. I serve as LIC (Lieutenant in Charge) when requested by my supervisor. I oversee personnel allocations to the different sectors and sub-sectors and ensure the leave calendar provides sufficient personnel to safely handle the mission of the department. I have spoken to numerous community groups, churches and civic organizations and have provided countless briefings to the media. I handle complaints that come in from the community and conduct investigations of subordinates that I uncover, are brought to my attention or referred to me by Internal Affairs. I issue discipline and training as corrective measures when needed. I have taught the Citizens Response to Active Shooter (CRASE) program several times at schools, churches, businesses and community groups. Since April of 2018, I have participated in the "Bigs in Blue" mentoring program through the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization. I recently became certified as a Public Safety Chaplain which includes monthly training sessions as part of my continuing education. I also serve as a part of the Care Team and Serve Team at our church. My supervisors have said that am a well-rounded lieutenant with leadership abilities and talents.
