I currently am a part of the leadership team as a Charge Lead Officer for the Unity Point Public Safety department. I perform regular officer duties as well as duties of the Lead Officer when they are not scheduled to work or have taken time off. I strive to excel in any duty I perform. I like to lead by example. Would never ask someone to do something I have not or would not do myself. I maintain my integrity, loyalty and trust by fulfilling duties
and trusted tasks. Perform tasks in a timely manner. I can keep a level head and calm mind in stressful situations.
As a Charge Lead Officer I am responsible for three different campuses and the officers scheduled to work at them on the given night. I am responsible to make decisions in regards to lockdown procedures, pulling an officer from one facility and placing them at a needed location, coaching peers/subordinates to maintain the shift is in proper working order, know proper policies and procedures when certain problems arise.
I am certified in healthcare provider CPR and AED. I am certified in OC, Tactical baton, and handcuffs. I completed the eight hour de-escalation training course of behavioral health staff when I had worked for Mercy One Public Safety prior. I have experience with customer service and effective communication. I have very good and efficient report writing skills. I am goal oriented and proud of my achievements of becoming an Field Training Officer and Charge Lead Officer in six to seven months of employment. I have goals to better not only myself but other people involved in the organization by coaching, mentoring, and trying to get everyone on the same page and work as a cohesive unit. I have made and submitted a log pending approval that would assist in our current log in and log out procedures of valuables at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
While I worked at Mercy One Public Safety I was a Charge Officer as well. While in a supervisory role I would check record of valuable items and property either found or secured. That entailed checking a safe where personal valuable property for patients, staff, and visitors are stored to make sure nothing has been stolen or misplaced. I would delegate responsibilities and communicate effectively duties for each individual I work with during the shift. I was trusted to maintain control and use my judgement to make decisions about situations even with the supervisor on duty. I would make changes and assist the supervisor in creating the work schedule. I maintain a positive work environment and easy to get along with.
I completed High school a year early and excelled academically, earning my High School Diploma. I went on to college at DMACC for my Associates in Liberal Arts and Criminal Justice. I did not complete my Associates degree because of an illness that was in my family at the time.
I have experience dealing with the public since I was 16 when I started working for the Iowa State Fair as a blue shirt security person. Where I assisted Iowa State Patrol and State Fair Patrol with crowd control during the State fair riots, as well as assist other blue shirts in their job duties. I would assist State Fair Patrol in giving breaks and making sure duties were being met each night. I was able to excel at my role to be considered to
join the State Fair Patrol as a Patrolmen in November of 2010. I was instantly requested by my Sargent to be in charge of the security detail by conducting nightly role calls and explaining/ train duties to all security in the area I was in charge of. I also assisted other officers in maintaining control of the Fair Grounds by deterring patrons or confronting illegal acts. I would complete Critical incident reports (CIR) and supplemental reports to other officers CIR. I was in charge of impounding vehicles left in parking lots after curfew and signing release of vehicles after payments have been received.
