  • I handled all aspects of colony management for the NCI Mouse Repository (NMR) as well as tracking the cryopreserved samples, and shipment of samples worldwide.
  • In addition I was part of the relocation of cryopreserved germplasm to the NCI Frederick Central Repository, from inventorying the material to packaging them for transport for long-term storage.
  • I controlled all the colony management for several years.
  • I had received several new models for the NCI Mouse Repository, and had continued to learn about them and understand the strain characteristics and pinpoint issues as they arise.
  • Along with the colony management, I updated the colonies weekly on excel worksheets.
  • I took care of all the tail biopsies, primarily for genetic identification (genotyping), and did intraperitoneal hormonal injections weekly and checking plugs.
  • I take great responsibility for the many years of experience.

  • These strains either been reconstituted to restock the cryopreserved germplasm, or accepted into the NMR collection.
  • Under my care these mouse models require knowledge of breeding and understanding of strain-specific characteristics.
  • In addition, tail biopsies are collected for submission to ADL for genotyping.
  • Responsibilities updating weekly notes of each NMR strain.
  • Continues to work in the LN2 freezers.
  • Tracking the cryopreserved samples for shipment and checking all for accuracy as well as the paperwork.
