I comment myself to having a positive outlook on things, working hard, and doing things right. I’m always striving to learn new things because there’s always something new to learn. Improving myself is very important to me I’m always finding new ways to improve in every aspect of my work life and personal life.
Field Tech C is a below ground/above ground position. This job can be fast paced sometimes which I like. This job requires that you are good at working with your peers and that you have good communication with your peers and also good communication with customers. The main part of the job is working under a crew lead on a distribution truck while also supporting the service side when help is needed. I have learned lots of skills and knowledge while under this position. Knowing and understanding the distribution pipeline system and every aspect of it is one thing I have learned. I work with variety of tools daily and have learned how each and every one of them should be operated safely and correctly. I also work with mechanized equipment like excavators and tractors. I operate locate equipment and GIS/GSCA tools to find and locate our underground facilities. I also have experience in preventing corrosion by the use of underground galvanic systems. I use pipe fittings for above ground and below ground applications and have knowledge on what to use during certain situations. I have knowledge in proper excavation techniques and procedures which is a big part of the job. I am light up qualified and I am first responder certified. which is part of the above ground side of the job. I am very knowledgeable in our operational procedures manual which is a very important to know it. I have experience in using a computer and multiple computer applications. I am certified in CPR. I also have a class A commercial drivers license.
Crew member is working under a Forman on a truck. There were 2 types of crews which are steel crew and plastic crew. I did a little bit of both. Compared to a field tech c this job was very similar except we did a lot of new installations or new business. I learned how to look at plans and understand what materials to get from the warehouse to bring to the job. I learned how to use different types of drilling equipment. I also got to travel to different places around Georgia. This job was the start of my natural gas career and I learned a lot from it.
