Deborah Conrad

I began my career in the insurance industry in 1980 while living in Charlotte, North Carolina. During the course of my career I have worked on the company side as well as the broker, claims and agency side of the industry.

I have maintained a great relationship with my clients and am proud of my retention rate.

I have been involved with community programs throughout my career.

When I worked for BB&T-CIC Insurance In Laurens, SC I was Ambassador of the Quarter for two quarters and Ambassador of the year for the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. I enjoyed the networking opportunity's this association allowed. I also sat on the Board of Directors for this Chamber.

Prior to that I was also a board member for the Mt. Pleasant Historical Society in Mt. Pleasant, NC.

In my time with ACNB Insurance Services - Hockley & O'Donnell, I participated in The Gettysburg Area Retail Merchants - First Friday Program. The First Friday of every month my duties were to provide an information table about the local downtown businesses and the products they provided as well as directing them to the businesses and providing general information about the Gettysburg Area.

I have also donated my hand made lace items to the Adams County S.P.C.A. for their fundraising efforts.

My current project is to work with Historic Gettysburg Adams County, a local non-profit. They raise funds and provide grants to Historic barn owners to help with the preservation of the barns. I make items for them to sell at their events and I have had my lace group provide demonstrations of 19th Century lace making skills during their first Historic Barn Tour. I will also be providing demonstrations at their barn dance.

I have been making lace for about 15 years and have been a member of many online and local lace making groups. I have been knitting and crocheting since I was 12 and enjoy the release this activity provides from the day to day stresses. When I lived closer to York I was a member of the York Quilters Guild which is made up of over 200 members. Along with our monthly meetings we also sponsored a bi-annual quilt show at the York Fairgrounds.
