Covenant House is a nationwide crisis residential center for homeless and runaway youth between the ages of seventeen and twenty-one.

Youth would come into the shelter from a variety of situations and circumstances.

A goal plan for the young people included solutions for mental health, housing employment.

Treatment plans for any alcohol or drug addictions they may have.

Also, responsible ro handling a crisis hotline.

Covenant House had a national hotline that literally handled calls from all over the country, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

We were, oftentimes able to place the young people to safe spaces, eventually directing them to Covenant House(s).

• Job Corps is a federally- funded residential training program for economically and educationally disadvantaged young people.
• Young people came from as far away as Central America, the Caribbean Islands and South America.
• The program consisted of a teaching staff, counseling staff, residential and medical staff.
• Staff is largely responsible for training students in education, vocational skills( a trade) and social skills.
• The goal being: Work, LifeSkills and personal success.

I was responsible for scheduling transportation for 33, sometimes more of the agency's clients who were living with various mental illness diagnoses.

The people we worked with lived in rural areas, with no transportation, causing them to be even

more isolated in their illness.

We provided transportation, support services, and an outlet for socialization.

• Mediation consisted of interviewing Employers, Employees. Sometimes, Employee vs Employee disputes. Interviewing witnesses and any additional relevant groups or individuals.
• The goal being to resolve disagreements and finding working solutions.
• I initially worked for Jan Group as a Program Specialist . My experiences working with Families, Persons living with ID and Autism, became valuable in my duties as an MC.
• Working with the Employees in the residences I would say enhanced my ability and success to work as an MC.
