- Assess patients' medical status before, during, and after IV infusion
- Conduct in-office infusions for patients under doctor’s care
- Work autonomously to ensure patient safety during IV medication infusions
- Follow sterile procedures for IV catheter insertions
- Verify, calculate, and prepare all infusion medications
- Provide necessary infusion medications on a scheduled basis
- Skills: IV insertion, Port-A-Cath access and care, sterile dressing changes, wound care
- Instrumental in establishing the current infusion center
- Rapid and accurate assessment and treatment of acute and chronic emergencies, medication administration, IV access, EKG interpretation, and accurate documentation
- Data entry and retrieval via computer systems
- Out-patient discharge planning, family counseling, charting, follow-up care, and interactions with social services
