Summary

What makes a truly transformative choral director?

For me, it is the ability to ignite a fire in students, inspiring them to perform from their authentic core and connect with the arts in ways that bring new life, confidence, and purpose to their educational journey. I am a dynamic and dedicated music educator with a proven record of excellence, leading junior high and high school choirs to consistent superior and excellent ratings at regional and state festivals. Recognized for visionary leadership and creative production, I specialize in uncovering and empowering the unseen talent in every student. My methodical, highly organized approach leverages proven pedagogical methods, challenging students to pursue artistic excellence through individual determination and discipline. In every rehearsal and performance, I seek not just to teach music, but to cultivate resilience, self-expression, and a lasting love for the arts.

How do you ensure all students have the opportunity to thrive musically?

My experience spans all levels of music education K-12, including choral, general, and instrumental instruction. As a composer and published author, I bring a contemporary and creative perspective to the classroom. Currently pursuing a doctorate in Community Care and Counseling with a focus in Traumatology at Liberty University, I am committed to understanding and supporting students who have experienced trauma, equipping myself with the tools to enhance quality of life through the arts. This holistic approach allows me to foster both musical and personal growth in every student.

Strong leadership is foundational to building exceptional programs. I have demonstrated leadership as a department and program director, overseeing curriculum development, event production, and staff mentorship across multiple schools. My collaborative work in curriculum mapping, community partnerships, interdisciplinary projects, and large-scale event planning has consistently driven program growth and quality. I have fostered a culture of excellence, supported new educators, and ensured continuous improvement in student participation and achievement.

Why does my approach succeed?

Because it produces measurable results. I have doubled and tripled student participation in concerts and cultural celebrations—up to a 200% increase in ensemble size and opportunities. The number of students qualifying for regional competitions increased by 275% under my direction, growing from 8 to 30 qualifiers. I have integrated non-vocalists into the performing arts department, created new roles, and updated curriculum scope and sequence to significantly build music literacy, especially in low-income schools. My work has ensured equitable access to college audition preparation and fostered strong parent organizations that learn alongside their children, substantially boosting family and community engagement.

In today's world, how do we keep performing arts relevant and accessible?

I integrate 21st-century technology by training students in backstage sound, lighting, production, and digital engagement—including pre-show video creation. My lessons are interactive and accessible, utilizing multimedia resources, color-coded planning, and station-based learning to personalize instruction for every group and individual. Above all, I am deeply committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the performing arts. I design choral programs that celebrate the cultural richness of all students, using diverse repertoires, culturally responsive pedagogy, and trauma-informed strategies to ensure every voice is heard. My inclusive performance opportunities—multicultural holiday vespers, movement-based hip-hop groups, and collaborations with faith-based and community organizations—give at-risk and underrepresented students meaningful access to the arts. Through intentional relationship-building and advocacy, I foster a safe, welcoming environment where every student thrives.

My commitment to community is unwavering. I have founded outreach-focused ensembles, led student performances at significant community events, and organized service at funerals and multicultural celebrations, building bridges across the community. Holding advanced degrees in Performing Arts Education and the highest professional certifications, I combine academic expertise with genuine enthusiasm, communication skills, and a deep understanding of student development. Above all, I am dedicated to adding value—not just to a school's arts program, but to the entire campus and surrounding community through visionary leadership, mentorship, and partnership.
