Dr. Deeptarup Biswas is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Neurology at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, specializing in Single-Cell Omics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Neuroscience, and Biomarker Discovery. His research focuses on developing high-throughput quantitative workflows and computational pipelines for single-cell proteomics, aiming to unravel molecular mechanisms and disease-associated proteomic profiles in neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Biswas earned his Ph.D. in Biosciences and Bioengineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), where he developed robust big data analysis pipelines to investigate the pathophysiology and therapeutic mechanisms of high-grade meningioma tumors. His doctoral research was recognized with the Dr. Gargi Vishnoi Memorial Prize for the Best Ph.D. Thesis. He holds a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Pondicherry University, where he graduated with First Class with Distinction.
Throughout his career, Dr. Biswas has worked in the intersection of healthcare, technology and data analytics to tackle complex clinical questions. He has developed several databases, automated tools, and computational platforms, including BrainProt (India's first brain disease omics database), CoVProt, IBPM, PhosphoMap, Brain Disease Marker Curator (BDMC), and Clustome. His work has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, copyrights, and patents, including a biomarker panel for grade-specific diagnosis of meningioma brain tumors.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Biswas contributed to government-funded research projects, earning an Institutional Appreciation Certificate for his efforts. His commitment to education is reflected in his extensive teaching and mentorship experience, including as 5 years of mentorship and teaching instructor on NPTEL MOOC (funded by MHRD), Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH) - IIT Bombay. He has also served as an expert in Big Data Analysis, AI applications in clinical research and Omics across several national and international workshops. Dr. Biswas represented IIT Bombay at the Inter-IIT Scientific Conclave (2023), where he won a gold medal, competing against over 15 IITs across India.
