Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for coordinating and engaging partnerships that connect public health placed-based physical activity related to walking or bicycling for transportation, other built environment opportunities (such as parks and playgrounds), economic development and education
  • Analyze current conditions, such as socio-economic trends, land use, traffic data, and economic development plans, in rural or metropolitan areas to determine impacts of transportation system and other features of the built environment
  • Coordinate with local and state planners, consultants, engineers, and volunteers in presenting recommended plans for review and comment by the public and the various planning committees.
  • Collaborate with and acts as a liaison between engineers, planners, community partners and other local leaders to research, analyze, or prioritize transportation and other built environment opportunities that will increase active transportation and physical activity
  • Collects county/state/national health-related data to include demographics, incidents of disease, economic environment, educational outcomes, and behavioral risk statistics to determine viable opportunities for improvement
  • Manage TDH's Healthy Built Environment Grant if recipient is located the Northeast Region

  • Collecting and inputting surveys in RedCap
  • Utilizing secondary data as well as data collected from surveys and listening sessions to create data packages specific to each community in order to assess and determine community needs
  • Working with community partners to find ways to address needs identified withing community health assessment
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding the implementation of the CHA (Community Health Assessment) and CHIP (Community Improvement Plan)
  • Attend regional and county health councils to provide strategic advice to health councils as necessary
  • Engage stakeholders in the CHA/CHIP program goals and objectives in seven county health councils and the regional health council
  • Directly support county health councils and TDH with CHA/CHIP program development, implementation, and monitoring
  • Manage administrative tasks for regional and county health councils, to include evaluation of survey analysis and primary data packages regarding data review process for each health council
  • In preparation of CHA/CHIP, lead discussions around team building with state and regional partners in the support of CHA/CHIP goals. (TDMHSAS Regional Policy and Planning Councils)

  • While completing a 300 hour field study with the Infection Prevention Department I was able to complete rounding to check patients surgical sites as well as any ports or central lines they may have had to ensure they were clean and intact
  • I also helped to conduct COVID Contact tracing between both patients and team members
  • I was able to help prepare the necessary documentation when reporting surgical site infections - and determine which information needed to be reported
  • I was also able to calculate device days and report them within hospital database

  • The summer is when many teams from the United States come to spend a week partnering with the ministry. It was my responsibility to help be prepared when teams came - as well as working within the surrounding communities
  • We were able to plan many outreach opportunities as well as having a medical clinic in which I was responsible for bagging medications and checking-in patients
